How do I know if an Airbnb host is legitimate?

Use the platform’s listing, message history and reservation details together. A polished profile alone does not establish that a host or co-host is trustworthy.

Check consistency before committing

Look for clear property details, consistent photos and reviews that describe the stay. Ask practical questions through the platform, such as access arrangements and who handles problems. Investigate contradictions rather than relying only on a badge or a friendly response.

Be cautious about pressure to move payment or account verification to an unfamiliar website. Open the platform directly instead of following an unexpected payment link. If a message seems suspicious, use the platform’s help flow before sending money or identity documents.

If you are hiring a co-host

Check relevant experience and references, agree the scope in writing, and use role-based invitations. Confirm local coverage for physical tasks and establish an emergency backup. CoHostBnB software cannot certify the legitimacy of a property or person.
